Customer Reviews
Plenty of fun By Heidi Grange (Logan, UT United States)
This book provides a delightful reading experience for those who enjoy graphic novels. Not only are the illustrations bright and appealing but the characters are endearing, even the grumpy Roscoe, the dog. My favorite character though is Fluffy, the hamster, who despite not being tough and intimidating is determined to help. I love how he keeps trying even when things don't go so well. The relationships between the different animals and Captain Amazing is an integral part of the book with Captain Amazing not fully realizing the loyalty and courage of his companions. With plenty of action as well as plenty of heart, there is much here to be enjoyed by young readers.

Fun Book for 8-10 Year Olds By M. T. Vancampen (Houston, TX)
My eight year old son loves superheroes. This book was right up his alley. He enjoyed it so much that he read it multiple times. For weeks, he was telling us about various funny parts from the book. All of this is coming from a kid who it is difficult to get excited about reading. I am happy with any book that can get him reading. So, if you have a reluctant reader, this is a good book to convince them that reading can be fun.

Being extraordinary comes from within! By Hedera Femme (USA)
This funny and cute graphic novel about pet sidekicks is especially great for kids. It shows us that things like physical strength and brute force are no match against wits and persistence, especially with the help of good friends. The whole thing is very uplifting, and the illustrations match the humor and energy of the characters. Best for middle-schoolers, but fun for any age!

Good For Younger Kids By Talvi
This is a very well illustrated graphic novel with a simple (perhaps simplistic) storyline that is easy to read and follow along. But admittedly it did lack the depth of storyline that I had hoped for in this medium. The drawings do a good job of pausing for effect and utilizing graphics to push story and points. But the story does seem to plod along without any personality or hook - making it feel like a concept that hadn't been hashed out as well as it could have been.

Great concept and fun story By Mark E. Baxter (Layton, UT United States)
This is simply a great story. Rather than use one more super-hero as the center of the story, this great story concentrates on the side-kicks. Old friends get together and save the day. Great art and great content. Recommended. Nothing objectionable.

Superhero behind-the-scenes action By Benjamin Devey
Sidekicks takes the supporting cast of pets behind-the-scenes of Captain Amazing, the aging hero of Metro City. Captain Amazing realizes things are slipping at home and recruits for the position of sidekick. Unbeknown to him, his pets vie for the job. learning that they must work together, rather than competing against each other. Stylized drawings are part of this world. A simple story that stays in a realm of general audience, with a sweet message.

Funny and Touching By Trevor Lowing (Satellite Beach, Fl, USA)
Captain Amazing is an aging superhero and a close call makes him realize it's time for a new sidekick. Captain Amazing's last sidekick was his pet cat so his pet dog, hamster and chameleon all want a shot at the job. The story moves fast and the animation is clean but the story does jump from scene to scene a little disjointedly. A few times I was chuckling out-loud. The real point of the book is about taking your family for granted and I really appreciate how this book does that. I would love to read more about the Hamster and chameleon.
