Clif Bar is named after my father, Clifford, my childhood hero and companion throughout the Sierra Nevada mountains. In 1990, I lived in a garage with my dog, skis, climbing gear, bicycle and two trumpets. The inspiration to create an energy bar occurred during a day-long, 175-mile ride with my buddy, Jay. We'd been gnawing on some other energy bars. Suddenly, despite my hunger, I couldn't take another bite. That's the moment I now call the epiphany.

Two years later, after countless hours in Mom's kitchen, Clif Bar became a reality. And the mission to create a better-tasting energy bar was accomplished. Thanks, Mom! Clif Bars are high-density energy bars, designed to replace the fuel your body needs during demanding workouts. I use them during adventure racing, mountain climbing, and kayaking. They are excellent compared to all the other "power" type bars that are available. These are not "healthy snacks" for couch potatoes to smack on while watching TV. Do that and it'll end up on your butt! Used for the intended purpose, and when purchased fresh, these deserve the 5-star rating I've given.

I buy the variety pack at my local [...], and the price is lower than Amazon's gold box special price. The other advantage of purchasing food in a brick and mortar store is that you can verify the product expiration date. Several reviewers complained about this product being stale and/or out-dated. I've purchased other food products from Amazon and have also noted they are pushing close to the expiration date, meaning that one needs to consume a case of food within a week or two before it expires. Buyer beware.

This is my favorite seasonal flavor, unfortunately I think it has been discontinued. All these people crabbing they aren't snacks, I'm a distance runner and I eat these for breakfast. If I ate these while running I'd probably vomit. It's a quick source of nutrition when you have a hummingbird-like metabolism that forces you to pack snacks just to go shopping. Must eat, NOW!

Cliff bars are awesome for hikes. THey are extremely high density energy that replcaces what your body burns from intense exertion. So be careful not to leave these lieing around because they are delicious and you will want to munch on them from time to time when you are not working out.

Delicious, nutritious, and cheap. What more could you want from an energy bar? This product comes in a display box which is a little cumbersome to store in a cabinet, but it is a great deal, so there is no room for complaints. The order was 4 dollars less than the bars would have cost at the store AND it was delivered straight to my door.

I think clif bars are one of the better bars that are available and they are a great quick meal when you are on the go. I think that the Crunchy peanut butter is my favorite. This also helps me reach my protein requirements when on the go.

It might just all be in my head but after eating these I definately noticed a pick me up feeling in my body. It felt like I could do more. I ate one right before a big rainstorm tonight and it's usually when my body aches and feels bad. Ate one of these and I felt normal and ready to go again. Like I said it might just be in my head, but science can't be wrong. They are like 240 calories a piece, so if you watch your calorie intake, watch out on these. They taste good, like chocolate bars. I originally didn't want the chocolate variety pack but they were really cheap at my local store so I picked it up. I tried a different energy bar that was similar to these, but you get way more in each package for less. With all the good reviews here on Amazon, they have to be pretty good. Pick some up.
