Directions

Noticeable change in pain level after a month By M. Hall
I started taking this (6.4.12) for rotator cuff pain which I've had for years, stemming from an adolescent injury. Recent weightlifting had severely aggravated it again, and ibuprofen day after day wasn't a viable option. I was skeptical for sure, but either placebo effect or not, my shoulder feels far better than it did a month ago. I've continued to lift in the meantime, making no real accommodation for my shoulder other than supplemental. I also take fish oil, which may contribute to the progress.

I have a senior Miniature Poodle (weighs about 23 lbs.) and she's had problems with a luxating patella for years. I volunteer for an animal welfare organization and it was suggested to me that I put my pup on Glucosamine/Chondroitin. I shopped around a bit at one of the big brand pet supply stores and chose a store-brand senior vitamin that contained Gl/Ch primarily.

Though they never seemed to help my girl all that much I probably spent $100 or so over the last year. Recently she has had more significant mobility problems, so I made a vet visit. He clarified to me that, as vitamins, GL/Ch isn't regulated or tested by the FDA. BUT there are groups that have tested viability of what's on the market. Best choices for product quality hale from Nutramax, whether the human version as Cosamin or the pet version as Cosequin. I chose to buy the human variety for my pup as she isn't picky (eats nearly everything in gulps) so the capsules weren't a problem for her. The dog variety is available in chewables.

I highly recommend to talk to your vet about the dosage appropriate for your dog as after just 3 days my senior pup was able to jog and jump again!!! Amazon's price was the best I could find online or locally.

I am a trail runner and found that my knees hurt after long runs and often ached at night. These improved my run and have reduced the pain. I only have pain now when I pivot in the wrong direction on my knee. Otherwise I am much better.

I have so many aches and pains when I get up in the morning, plus I have points on the meniscus on both knees that cause frequent sharp pain and make it difficult to climb steps and sometimes even to walk. I was amazed that this product started working within the first week I was taking it. Con: it's in capsule form and it smells and tastes bad going down.

It Seems to Work By Rocketman
My orthopaedist recommended this for torn knee cartilege, but cautioned me not to use off-brands or generics that hadn't gone through the same rigorous testing the Cosamin DS had. I followed his advice, and the torn meniscus in my knee no longer prevents me from running (although it took about a month to work). Having said that, I really have no idea whether the Cosamin is responsible, so draw your own conclusions.
