Great Book By Loyal fan
I saw the movie before I read the book and I could not believe that the movie was based on this book. The story line is not even close to being the same. A must for any SciFi lover!

Troopers By Steve
This was a exciting book written about a future space based combat team. All written before we had even been to the moon.... Boot camp brought back old memories...lol... not all fun and games even in the future. Heinlein had a good grasp on what could be.

A big fan By Nalek
I was always a huge fan of the Starship Troopers movie series ever since i saw the first arachnid in the first movie and my dad got me an R/C toy of one of them for Christmas when i was 5 or 6. When i learned that the movie was based off a book, as an avid reader, i became incredibly exited. I immediately went on Amazon to look for this book. As always when i try a movie book combo i expect some disappointment in the discrepancy but the book was so good in its own right that i could not find myself disappointed in the book and just enjoyed the entire experience.

A fantastic science fiction novel By R. B. Ray (San Diego, CA)
This makes for a thrilling and thought provoking science fiction novel! The story itself is narrated through the voice of Johnnie Rico a young man that decides to sign up for Federal Service and ends up in the Mobile Infantry, a group of soldiers using mechanical power suits to assist in planetary assaults. Rico does basic at Camp Arthur Currie in Western Canada. The boot camp parts of the book are very well written and give a decent idea of actual military boot camp. I'm assuming this can be attributed to the fact that the author served on active duty in the U.S. Navy for five years as a lieutenant.

One of Heinlien's best works By Nicholas J. Nelsen
This is one of RAH's best works. I won't cover the story as that has been written about very well by previous reviewers. What I do think is not covered well is the back story of why/when he wrote this book. This book was written during the Cold War and when there was talk of the US unilaterally disarming. This book was basically his response to that.

Every High School Student should have to read this By MoLowe
Outstanding book, for those out there that think this is pure action bang um up book like the movie; you will be a little disappointed. This is a political satire, with a great story line and hidden messages about society all through it. But take it anyway you want just read it.

Epic story By Jared Jeffers (Burleson, Tx United States)
When I started this book I couldn't put it down. Such a great read and it gave me flashbacks to my own time in the service. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sci-fi / fantasy books. So get on the bounce and buy it recruit!

Awesome Book By K. Gedwill (Chicago)
I was in the Marine infantry and this book is very true to the "grunt" way of life, except it's in a futuristic, sci-fi setting. Additionally, the moral and philosophical commentary provided in the book is very compelling and intriguing. Of note, the book is almost nothing like the stupid movie. It's far, far more intellectual and emotionally deep, and the plot and character development is substantially different. If you're a fan of sci-fi and military novels, you MUST read this book.
