Steve Jobs

Product Description
Based on more than forty interviews with Jobs conducted over two years—as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues—Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing.

At a time when America is seeking ways to sustain its innovative edge, and when societies around the world are trying to build digital-age economies, Jobs stands as the ultimate icon of inventiveness and applied imagination. He knew that the best way to create value in the twenty-first century was to connect creativity with technology. He built a company where leaps of the imagination were combined with remarkable feats of engineering.

Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read it before it was published. He put nothing off-limits. He encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. And Jobs speaks candidly, sometimes brutally so, about the people he worked with and competed against. His friends, foes, and colleagues provide an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and the innovative products that resulted.

Stories worth reading! By Noah Ark
My first impression is that there're many good stories in it. Don't expect it to be whatever-award winner -- at the bottom it's a really good collection of many good stories about the life of Steve Jobs. This is a book for anyone who like good stories.

Excellent, must read By Jefffan24
This is a wonderfully written and executed biography about steve jobs the man. Not steve jobs the CEO only, but the man and what made him one of the best CEO's and what made him lead one of the greatest companies of all time.

A must-read! By Saurabh Sinha (Tempe,AZ, USA)
A very well written biography, especially considering the fact that it is being released 3 weeks after Steve Jobs' death. The book serves as a testament to the incredible life that Steve Jobs lived and it is interesting to see how the author has tried very hard to remain immune to the famous 'reality distortion field' created by him. The author refuses to put Jobs on the pedestal. Throughout the book Steve Jobs sounds like an child obsessed with his 'vision' of reality and his greatest strengths and weaknesses are juxtaposed in the narration seamlessly. Fascinating anecdotes and conversations between Silicon Valley giants, the deals, fights and the whole process of product design and creation with Jobs at the helm makes this biography a must read! This biography also serves as a narration of the revolutionary rise of semiconductor/software industry in the Silicon Valley in the last three decades with emphasis, of course, on Apple.

WONDERFUL, Truth Telling By Tivette (CA, USA)
I treated myself to the Kindle download right after midnight last night and began reading--it's very well written and a great absorbing book! I've been aware of SJ and his legendary temper and eccentricities for many years including a few insights from those around his circle of acquaintances. I'm glad SJ allowed the unvarnished truth told and saw how his life story could be instructive and cautionary to many. When you're about to die, your viewpoint changes as you realize the truth, or what will pass as it, is or will be out there anyway soon. So it is much better for it to be written up well and include some of your inner experiences and rationale for posterity and legacy.

I switched to Mac back in 1990 and never looked back, so I'm a long-time Apple user and have followed all things Apple for many years in this valley. I'm expecting his life's work to inspire, and this book will keep it real for those growing up now to learn he was after all a real human being like the rest of us...flaws and all. He just learned how not to give up (which is a powerful capability in and of itself) which I think is what gave him the extra years he fought so hard to live for through the devastating illness that finally took him home to God.

I HIGHLY recommend this book from which to learn so much about life in this valley as it once was and as it grew into Silicon Valley. I'm a native to this area, and old enough to wistfully remember all the orchards in this valley before Silicon. Enjoy the ride!

Great Book By G
I purchased the kindle version of the book even though I thought the price was too high for the digital version but I was too impatient to wait for the printed edition to arrive two days later. Some people may not like Steve Jobs but they can't deny the fact that he was one of a kind and truly did change the world. This book has given me a greater appreciation for Steve Jobs and Apple products.

Recommend to everyone By Armadillo
Though I haven't finished the whole chapters yet, I still wanna say this is a amazing book for everyone, not only Mac or iPhone users.

Highly Recommended By PCS.King (San Mateo, Ca United States)
I expected this book to be insightful and inspiring. Insightful, yes. But surprisingly it was more entertaining (especially towards the end) than inspiring. There were parts I had to run to another room and share, and other parts I could not help myself but to laugh out loud.

I would have preferred a deeper analysis into Steve Jobs' motivations. Instead, this book seemed to frequently digress into the topic of Apple and Silicon Valley ... a lot more than I felt was necessary. Almost like a grade school biography of Patton which would break off frequently and discuss the general progress of the War to give the readers some background. Nevertheless, the book was very enjoyable.

Great buy By TechDude
